Dolly ~ A Primitive Painting on A Very Old Board ~ SOLD

Dolly is a primitive painting on wood, of a doll, that I painted when we lived in southern, Ohio in an 1830's dear little Federal styled farmhouse in a small town.

When the roof was being restored, bits of the early wood was tossed out and from that stash I found this little misshapen, hunky piece of wood and did a primitive doll painting onto it. It has been with me for many years, but now it is time to find it a new home.

11.5 inches tall X 11 inches wide ~

Mixed Media on a Twig, Free As A Bird ~ SOLD

This piece of collaged mixed-media on a twig represents the joy of being free to do one's art, and that is why I named it Free As A Bird.

Three pieces of vintage linen are collaged and connected with laces, ribbons, papers and other fun embellishments. A vintage porcelain china doll known as a frozen Charlotte is nestled amidst antique lace with her little head against a bird feather. Vintage buttons and sealing wax adorn parts. Also, I have utilized a bit of encaustic using white oil paint to brighten the wax.

The entire piece from the twig to the bottom piece of lace is 18 inches long.

A shard that I framed in silver solder came from an antique dish. I have Mod-Podged real tiny roses to prevent them from ever crumbling.

The pocket has little treasures. All-in-all, I thoroughly enjoyed decorating this fun item.

Perry is a faerie who protects pear trees and their growers. She is one of my fruit faeries and stands 10 inches tall, but mostly sits on her little faerie chair when we see her. Otherwise, she magically flits about seeing to the pears and their growers.

Perry represents the wonders of pears in all their health benefits for all who eat them. She is a cloth doll with mache head and forearms.

Perry's little shoes are the leaves of the pear tree. They are painted-on.

The flowers in her hair are vintage millinery.

Soldered Picture ~ The Little Sisters

This little soldered piece is of a painting that I did long ago. I have made little prints of my painting and offer it rather as a bit of Victoriana to those who enjoy the more gothic look here and there.

I did my best to copy the Currier & Ives original.
My inspiration for this painting was that of a Currier & Ives print called The Little Sisters, circa 1857 - 1872.

The piece is 4.25 x 3.25 inches and is aged for a black patina. The hanger is a black, silk ribbon.

The cost is $35.00 + Shipping.

Eye Miniature ~ Adelaide SOLD

In Georgian days, the late 1700's, eye miniatures depicted the eye or eyes of a loved one or child. I created the eye of Adelaide utilizing a print of an early work of art, that I gleaned from the wonderful papers of the company Paper Whimsy.

I have encircled this piece of art in a polymer clay base and then painted it white and added a little antiquing. The glass that I used is a curved antique eyeglass lens.

The whole piece measures four (4) inches in diameter. I have done a surround of pearls and beads. I have added some fluff with cheesecloth and linen.

Hidden is the silver solder I used to encase the paper into the glass.

Adelaide's eye is $38.00 + shipping.
