Lavender Sachet - Sang Prettily

This 4 inch square, antique linen pillow is filled with lavender to make a sachet. I have adorned it with a vintage white button and a soldered mixed-media picture representing music. The words on it are "sang prettily". The silver solder frame has been embellished with little bumps of the silver.

It has been said that dried flowers in sachet form can last up to 50 years. No matter if it were not to last that long, for it has a tiny work of art attached to it which is embellished with a bit of silk ribbon. The little soldered picture that I created will last much longer than the sachet.

Lavender Sachet - Brown Transferware ladies

This 4 inch square, antique linen pillow is filled with lavender to make a sachet. I have adorned it with a vintage white button and a soldered antique shard from an old brown transferware serving bowl, circa 1800's. I love that I was able to get the picture of the mother and daughter. The serving bowl was heavier ceramic than a plate or a cup, so it was especially challenging for me.

It has been said that dried flowers in sachet form can last up to 50 years. No matter if it were not to last that long, for it has a tiny work of art attached to it and embellished with a bit of silk ribbon. The little soldered picture that I chose will last much longer than the sachet.

Damask Strawberry in Paper Basket

Here I have made a little, actual size, strawberry of antique red damask cloth. The berry is embroidered in white in the classic feather stitch. The wee basket is one that I crafted from chip board. I have painted it white along with a border of strawberries. The strawberry is held onto the basket with a little bit of velcro.

Cloth Queen Anne Doll ~ "C" ~ SOLD

This small cloth doll in the Queen Anne tradition is dressed in her boudoir clothing which includes her shift, her stays and her pockets.

Underwear as we know it was not yet invented. Women merely wore many petticoats. Even pantaloons and/or pantalets were not yet invented; not until the 1860's. The Queen Anne era I represent with my dolls is the 1700's.

The doll is 12 inches tall.

As seen in one of the photos, she can put her hands into her little pockets. Pockets were worn underneath their gowns and could be accessed via slits in garments. She kept her small necessaries with her throughout the day.

I have deemed this doll Queen Anne C, because I make others like her. Each one is individual nonetheless.

Dolly ~ A Primitive Painting on A Very Old Board ~ SOLD

Dolly is a primitive painting on wood, of a doll, that I painted when we lived in southern, Ohio in an 1830's dear little Federal styled farmhouse in a small town.

When the roof was being restored, bits of the early wood was tossed out and from that stash I found this little misshapen, hunky piece of wood and did a primitive doll painting onto it. It has been with me for many years, but now it is time to find it a new home.

Mixed Media on a Twig, Free As A Bird ~ SOLD

This piece of collaged mixed-media on a twig represents the joy of being free to do one's art, and that is why I named it Free As A Bird.

Three pieces of vintage linen are collaged and connected with laces, ribbons, papers and other fun embellishments. A vintage porcelain china doll known as a frozen Charlotte is nestled amidst antique lace with her little head against a bird feather. Vintage buttons and sealing wax adorn parts. Also, I have utilized a bit of encaustic using white oil paint to brighten the wax.

The entire piece from the twig to the bottom piece of lace is 18 inches long.

A shard that I framed in silver solder came from an antique dish. I have Mod-Podged real tiny roses to prevent them from ever crumbling.

The pocket has little treasures. All-in-all, I thoroughly enjoyed decorating this fun item.

Perry is a faerie who protects pear trees and their growers. She is one of my fruit faeries and stands 10 inches tall, but mostly sits on her little faerie chair when we see her. Otherwise, she magically flits about seeing to the pears and their growers.

Perry represents the wonders of pears in all their health benefits for all who eat them. She is a cloth doll with mache head and forearms.

Perry's little shoes are the leaves of the pear tree. They are painted-on.

The flowers in her hair are vintage millinery.
