Tillie, My Queen Anne Doll with Mache head, forearms and hands and a Cloth Body ~SOLD

Tillie is my rather fancy, 19 inch Queen Anne doll. She is for sale at my Etsy Store. This doll has been created with extremely stylish, silk garments and frivolously fun coiffures, but this particular model prefers a mere house dress and mob cap, at least of lace.

My Queen Anne Doll, Tess ~ SOLD

Tess is a cloth and mache doll. She is my design wherein I had a mold made of her so that she can be reproduced in liquid mache. Two of this model were in the film Felicity, complements of Warner Brothers a few years ago. The dolls are shown in the Colonial shop just behind the two performers portraying the little girl stars, one in particular, Felicity. (Said actor is the now renowned and wonderful Shailene Woodley.) Felicity is of course one of the American Girl Dolls!

My Tess is a 19 inch doll. In this case she is dressed in her Colonial styled shift and stays, over which is her pockets.

I see in this photo where a portion of one of her sleeves looks rather like a tube, but it's just a wrinkle. I only just saw this! Gulp.

Periodically I make for my Etsy Store a Tess. She is there now.

Marie L'ange ~ Marie the Angel (French of course) ~ SOLD

Dear Marie L'ange, represents the beauty of 18th. century French elegance. The meaning in French, to those who do not know, is Marie The Angel.

This mache head bust is permanently affixed within her glass dome. I have created a mixed media backdrop and adorned Marie in laces, jewelry and roses.

Altered Bottle ~ Happy Heart

I created this pretty altered art bottle in 2017 and sold it at a show in Battleground, Washington at a wonderful venue called El & Em. I like to keep a record of everything I have made in my art leanings, and had failed to keep one of this fun piece. Now I will be able to add it to my Pinterest account for posterity. That is why my blog is the first stop for these pictures.

A Gorgeous House with a Mansard Roof

I love this style of mansion. Yes, I called it a house, but indeed, it is really a mansion. The mansard roof is a favorite of mine. I learned that in France one was charged a tax on each floor below the roof line, and so, architects got wise and designed the third floor to be above the roof line. No extra taxes. I am not 100% sure of this, but it sounds good!

The earliest known example of a mansard roof is credited to Pierre Lescot on part of the Louvre built around 1550. This roof design was popularized in the early 17th century by François Mansart (1598–1666), an accomplished architect of the French Baroque period.^[5] It became especially fashionable during the Second French Empire (1852–1870) of Napoléon III.^[6] Mansardin Europe also means the attic (garret) space itself, not just the roof shape^[7] and is often used in Europe to mean a gambrel roof.

SOLD-Altered Make-Do Doll from Parts of Different Dolls

Here was a sweet little, antique, porcelain doll head, broken and in need of care. And then the very old body without a head. Of course, in my joining them I created a whole doll, albeit a make-do of sorts. I enjoy painting a little bit on old faces, bringing them back to life. This little doll's original painted eyes were faded to not even being there.

I am happy to announce that this dolly with the rosette on her dress is off to her new home in beautiful  New York!

Fairy Princess in Pale Pink ~ SOLD

My latest fairy is a princess in pale pink. Made of spun cotton and sculpted Paper Clay, she is 8 inches tall and wears a dress made of early 1900's, very pale silk.

This is my newest paper doll. She is, of course, a fairy, and in fairyland there are wee doves just for them. This paper doll is 8 inches tall and is permanently adhered to her stand which brings the total piece up to 10 inches in height.

SOLD - Fairy & The Lost Kitten, Mixed Media Paper Doll on Antique Book Board

As a doll maker, my fondness for paper dolls is strong. This is a paper doll, although not independent of her background; only in that she is indeed a cutout doll, but permanently affixed to the substrate which is an antique book board. It was the hard cover of an old book that fell apart. And this makes this piece a mixed-media collage.
