The first doll is right now on eBay for all of two more days. The last doll just sold on eBay for $2, 350.00, and worth every penny and even more so. This style of doll, if old, can command from $16,000.00 up to $160,000.00 a piece. Lucky is the buyer of any of Kathy's incredible creations.
I've highlighted her name to direct you to her blog, and again, here it is in it's wonderful and perfectly appropriate other name, Babes From the Woods.
Some of her dolls are featured in the current issue of Early American Life, which is the annual and the 24th Directory of Traditional American Crafts. Click on Directory, then on 2009, and then on Toys or Dolls.
Enjoy the works of a dear, dear friend.
oh my goodness, they are breath-taking! Queen Annes are my favorite (obviously, with prices like that, I have great taste!) I love their eyes and complexions. they are so alive and beautiful. Thanks for sharing!~
ReplyDeleteThe dolls are exquisite. I'd love to be able to carve these, too. That shall remain a fantasy! Her painting is beautiful. I looked at a close up of the eyebrows. Perfect details!
ReplyDeleteReally wonderful. Thank you for pointing them out!
ReplyDeleteIsn't her work just fantastic?!!
ReplyDeleteI have loved Queen Annes since being introduced to them several years ago by the ladies in a group of which I belong.

Thank you for sharing her work with us. Kathy is an amazing artist to be able to craft these beauties out of wood! Very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteIn a league of her own for sure.... Wow do they look authentic.
ReplyDeleteLucky you that Kathy is going to give instructions to!!!
I'm so envious!
And you Zwee with such tremendous talent in your own right..should not be much of a challenge for you at all!
Have a great 4th of July weeekend!
Hug,
Nan
Oh thank you, Nan! But, I have tried and find it to be almost impossible for me to do even with instructions. I am so NOT a wood carver, and really that is the trick, to see a doll's face and carve it.
ReplyDeleteZwee!!!!!!!
