My home will be one of the homes on tour in our historic neighborhood. I never have a tree up as early as this, but this year I will! Hope some of you can make it!
Oh! How neat! Wish I could come. There is a town near us that has home tours 2 times per year. Starting next weekend they begin their Christmas tours of 3 houses each weekend for 3 weekends. I love to go to it. The town is Waxahachie, TX and there are a lot of victorian homes there. Lately, however, there are newer homes included in the tours (which I don't like). In the past, I have toured old homes that are just fabulous. One of them is owned by the local quilt shop owner and had lots of quilts in it - which I loved! I'm sure it is a lot of work preparing for your tour, so I hope it will be fun for you.
Many of you know me as Zwee with many exclamation points following. These indicate extreme joy.
My parents wanted to name me Zöe, but felt that the actual French pronunciation of Zwee would never be acknowledged, and it would have been Americanized into Zoey. Well! I believe that Zwee does exist within my alter-ego and so that is in part, who I am. But I still like to be Christine too.
First and foremost I love the domestic scene. I love houses in all shapes and sizes. I am, in fact, a house stalker.
The 18th and 19th centuries intrigue me from an escape aspect, and so I surround myself with a home that reflects the beauty of these earlier times. In fact, our house was built in 1888. And yes, that is not early, but for Oregon, it is worthy.
I do love now, each and every moment. I love the ease of life with all that modernity affords. Combine the ambiance of olden days with the luxury of today and all is perfect. My dolls and other art forms must reflect the earlier days. My preference is that of a simple, early American homestead. Otherwise, I love mansions and castles of Europe and all that domestic artistry brings to this earth. Face it, I am happy taking care of what is mine. And I take delight when others take care of theirs.
