Happy First Day of Summer!

Multnomah Falls

Central Oregon

Mt. Hood

The Oregon Coast

Bandon Dunes Golf Course

Today is the longest day of the year, and it is the official first day of summer. June 21st is the summer solstice.

Here in our Willamette Valley, Oregon, of course, the rain forest is still having a go at it, and of course, we almost never have true summer weather until after the 4th of July, but once it gets going it is the most beautiful weather anywhere, for we do not know humidity here, as I have felt it in the Midwest and in New England, and of course, I shan't even mention the south. Nope, in the entire West humidity is something reported on paper, but not felt in comparison to those other places. I glory in my Pacific air. Our summer weather goes almost to Halloween.

Today is 70 and sunny. Perfection. Well was sunny and is slated to be later in the day. It usually burns off by noon. We shall see. Nonetheless, it is perfection for me for it is my home and I love it.

Just had to share.

  1. It looks gorgeous! No humidity must be fantastic. It gets very humid in London-most unpleasant!

  2. Serious weather envy here! It is 91 and HUMID--UNSEASONABLY hot for June. Just came from a luncheon and auction where there was no a/c and it was brutally hot.

What a beautiful valley you live in. Since I have to stay out of the sun, I think it would be heavenly to live there. Truly, it looks wonderful.

  3. Happy first day of summer mama and it is sunny. What a treat. We are off to the beach. Clarice

  4. Christine,
What perfection. Nature at her loveliest. And no humidity. That is almost sinful. Enjoy ever second my friend.

  5. I am so jealous! My hair even longs for the west coast ;) enjoy that 70* weather....we're low 90s today and it feels cooler, hehehe. Enjoy the lovely summer!~

  6. Christine~
I am a new follower and a fellow (WA) west coaster as well and share your feelings about the northwest, having lived in the south, east and midwest!! Just came back from a quick trip to Portland and LOVE your pictures as I can say, "I've been there!"

Your blog is lovely and your work exquisite!! Thankyou for sharing with us! I would love to have you come visit my blog sometime too!

  7. Gorgeous photo of the Falls!! Yea, summer is finally here!! I may not be so excited in a few weeks though! :)

  8. Hi Christine...such beautiful pictures of your lovely state. We are fortunate here as well with the humidity. It is very dry, not a lot of moisture in the air unless it is raining.

    Have a wonderful day!
    Hugs, Nancy
